Peer Review Process
Manhajuna: Jurnal Pendidikan Agama Islam applies a double-blind peer review policy to all submitted manuscripts. Under this system, the identities of both authors and reviewers remain strictly anonymous throughout the entire review process. This approach is adopted to ensure objectivity, impartiality, and the highest standards of academic integrity in every publication decision.
All research articles submitted to Manhajuna undergo a full and rigorous peer review process. The key characteristics of this process are as follows:
- Every submitted manuscript is reviewed by a minimum of two independent reviewers who possess relevant expertise in the subject matter of the manuscript.
- All publication decisions, whether to accept, reject, or request revisions, are made by the Editor-in-Chief based on the evaluations and recommendations provided by the reviewers.
- Members of the Editorial Board provide scholarly guidance and advisory support to the Editor-in-Chief, particularly in cases that require additional deliberation.
- The Managing Editor oversees the administrative coordination of the review process to ensure timely turnaround and a smooth experience for authors, reviewers, and editors.
- For manuscripts that require major or minor revisions, the same reviewers will be invited to evaluate the revised version to ensure that all concerns have been adequately addressed and that the quality of the manuscript meets the journal's publication standards.
Review Stages
Stage 1 — Initial Editorial Screening
Upon submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial screening by the editorial team to assess its conformity with the journal's focus and scope, adherence to author guidelines, and originality through plagiarism detection. Manuscripts that do not meet these basic requirements will be returned to the authors at this stage without proceeding to peer review.
Stage 2 — Double-Blind Peer Review
Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are forwarded to at least two qualified reviewers selected by the Managing Editor. Reviewers are asked to evaluate the manuscript based on the following criteria:
- Originality and academic contribution
- Relevance to the journal's focus and scope
- Soundness of research methodology
- Clarity and coherence of argumentation
- Accuracy and adequacy of citations and references
Stage 3 — Editorial Decision
Upon receiving the reviewers' reports, the Editor-in-Chief will issue one of the following decisions:
- Accepted — The manuscript is accepted for publication with no further revisions required.
- Minor Revision — The manuscript requires minor corrections or clarifications before acceptance.
- Major Revision — The manuscript requires substantial revisions and will be re-evaluated by the reviewers upon resubmission.
- Rejected — The manuscript does not meet the journal's scholarly standards and will not be considered for publication.
